THE LAND IN INDIA
Land tenure reform is a vital and pressing necessity in most parts of India. On proper relations between State, as ultimate owner of the land, landlords, and tenants depend social health and financial credit in the provinces. Naturally land tenure came in for much discussion and evoked many promises during the recent election campaign, and now those who won political power through it are called on to remember their promises. The members for the rural seats will see that they do, not forget them. Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa, in search of better systems, are in something of the same kind of boat as a consequence of their connected histories.
