CAR HITS POLE
WOMAN SERIOUSLY HURT
An accident in which two people were injured, one seriously, occurred at Upper Hutt shortly after midnight on Saturday. Mr. Charles Naughton Derek Taylor, The Parade, Eastbourne, was driving his car in a southerly direction, and just before coming into the main part of the township the car left the road, and strucK a telegraph pole. His passenger, Miss Alison Burch, Rata Street, Eastbourne, received serious injuries, both legs being broken. Mr. Taylor received a seven: cut on the wrist and head injuries. The car was smashed..
The injured people were taken to the Wellington Hospital. It was reported today that Mr. Taylor's condition was satisfactory but that Miss Burch was dangerously ill.
