THE ATHLETIC SECTION
It was officially announced today that the Otago athletes W. A. C. Pullar and T. Allen have both been included in the team to represent New Zealand at the British Empire Games at Sydney in February next.
Pullar and Allen, as reported- elsewhere, underwent a trial over a mile at Dunedin on Saturday. Pullar is the present New Zealand one-mile champion and was not present at the recent national trial meeting held at Wellington.
C. Weller, Palmerston North, the New Zealand cross-country champion, who has been nominated for the sixmile track event at the Empire Games subject to a satisfactory trial performance over this distance, is to have his trial at Palmerston North tomorrow.
For his third statutory offence of drunkenness, Austin Leopold. Kelly, salesman, aged 48, was fined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment, by Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today.
