BYLAW CASES

Offenders against the City Council bylaws were dealt with Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. Mr. A. R. Cooper appeared for the City Council.

For breaches of the parking regulations, William Duthie and Eobert Jamison Allender -were fined 10s and costs,

•Merlin Chamberlain was convicted and ordered to pay costs for overcharging a taxi fare.

Acme Motors, Ltd., were fined 10s and costs on one' of five charges of prohibited parking, and convicted and ordered to pay costs on the others.

Harry Antrobus was -fined 10s and costs, for allov'ng cattle on .unfenced land. A similar penalty was imposed upon lan Miles.

For proceeding in an incorrect direction in a one-way street, Harold Breen was convicted and ordered to pay costs. Andrew Lay was fined 10s and costs on a similar charge.

For driving in a manner which might have been dangerous, John Eric Dawson was fined 30s and costs.

Alexander Daniel Greer was fined 10s and costs for failing to stop in half the visible distance ahead. Avon Joseph Nattrass and Howard Weenick were fined 10s and costs on similar charges, and Rama Bahya was fined £1 and costs.

George Fenwick Townshend Hall was fined 10s and costs for exceeding the 30 miles per hour speed limit. Ronald Wallis was fined £land costs.

Kenneth Manning was fined 10s .and costs for driving without due cara and attention. Earll Payne was also fined 10s and costs on a similar charge.

For exceeding the speed limit through the Mount Victoria tunnel, James Marshall, Ida Hannah Morrah, and Kenneth Penberthy were fined £2 and costs. John Weston, who was; similarly charged, said that he thought the traffic inspector's siren was a fire engine, and he speeded up. "That is certainly a novel excuse," said the Magistrate. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs.

Harry Oswald Schuster was fined 10s and costs for overtaking on an intersection.

For a breach of the right-hand rule, Peter Sharp was fined 10s and costs,
