RELIEF FOR FARMERS
With empty tanks in the country districts, hosing and water restrictions in the city, the Wanganui district has experienced the driest early summer in years, stsvs "The Post's" Wanganui representative. On Sunday, most of the district received benefit from a short but heavy downpour, and on Monday night and most of Tuesday heavy driving rain saved the situation. Farmers general'y have been torn between desire for rain and for fine weather for the. shearing.
Wool from all parts of the Wanganui district is already arriving at the wool stores for shearing, owing to the long spell of dry warm weather, started earlier this year than usual. The first Wanganui wool sale is to be held in the middle of January.
