ENGLISH PRAISE

: ' *■■'■■■ CASUAL ARRANGEMENTS

(British Official Wiieless.)

RUGBY, November 17.

The Press warmly congratulates. Fly-ing-Offtcer Cloustpn arid Mrs, .KirbyGreen,

The casual character of the new flight is noted. The machine, which was the three-year-old De Hayilland Comet tw}n?en.gined monoplane that ca?ried the winners of the EnglandAujtralia flight in 1934 was, as ''The Times" remarks, hired and insure'^ and arrangements were made for the services of an excellent pilot, very much as a business man might hire a motorcar for a weekend tour. The only important change made in' the Comet since 1934 was the replacement of the two " original racing engines by two Gipsy Six second series 205 horsepower engines and the fitting of thesS with De Havilland variable-pitch air-' screws. That change was made just before the Damascus race. .
