PIPING AND DANCING

A meeting of the Wellington Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand was held on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance from all parts of the centre, there being present Messrs. Lan Cameron (Mauriceville), in the chair, J. W. Brown (Nelson), R. J. Glasgow (Turakina), J. McKenzie and J. W. Bird (Masterton), A. McG. McCowan (Eketahuna), W. Ross (Petone), P. M. Cameron, W. Sutherland, W. E. Boyd, E. McQueen, W. A. Blair, C. Stewart, C. Stewart, jun., W. Fraser, and M. Gray Nasmith (secretary). The greater part of the meeting was devoted to the revision of the Dominion judges' ljst for piping and dancing, and recommendations from the meeting are to be forwarded to the Dominion Council for adoption. Mr. Glasgow applied for the Turakina district to be incorporated within the centre. The' application was granted, subject to the approval of the Dominion Association.

The Dominion Association notified that it had allotted the holding of the contests for the North Island Reel o' Tulloch championship for boys and girls 16 years of age and over, and the North Island championship slow riarches for B grade pipers to the 'Wairarapa Caledonian Society's sports on January 1. The association had also allotted the New Zealand " championship seann triubhais for boys and girls under 18 years of age, the South Island championship Reel o' Tulloch for males of any age, and the South Island championship pibroch playing (all-comers) to the Motueka Caledonian Society for its sports on January 1 and 2. . The secretary reported the affiliation of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society, the Motueka Caledonian Society, and the Horowhenua A. and P. Association. Permits to hold dancing competitions had been issued to the Wairarapa A. and P. Society, to the Mangatainoka Athletic Society for December 26, and Masterton A. and P. Society for February.
