CAR FALLS INTO WATER

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHANGAREI, November 15. A motor-car containing four women got out of control and dived into the town wharf basin near the Victoria Bridge on Sunday. All escaped without injury. The car was driven by Mrs. Len Adams, Mains Avenue, who swerved to avoid a cyclist. In recovering, the car Skidded in loose metal, crashed through the handrail of the fishermen's jetty, and somersaulted into four feet of water. The vehicle started to slide into deep water, when Mr. L. W. Waldron dived in fully clothed and managed to hold the car until assistance came. Within a few seconds the imprisoned women were released suffering from bruises and shock.
