AUSTRALIAN WOOL
FOUR MONTHS' BUSINESS
Statistics have been compiled by the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia showing that the turnover for four months of the wool year July to October inclusive was 624.92S bales greasy and 30,279 bales scoured for a realisation of £11,449,821 for wool in the gtease at £18 6s 5d per bale and £785,868 for scoured at £25 19s Id per bale. The average per lb for the season was 14.1 d for greasy and 28d for scoured.
The effects of the recession in prices experienced from August 31, remarks the "Sydney Morning Herald," '. will probably to some degree affect, the sale of wool for months. Trade in manufactures has to a great extent been held up pending the stabilisation of the market. Purchasers of tops, yarns, and fabrics were not prepared to commit themselves to contracts, except for absolutely necessary immediate requirements. Meantime, the. wool supply position from users' standpoint has been eased owing to the smaller quantity of raw material consumed. The wool-selling position was rarely, if ever, stronger than when last season closed, but its situation now has less strength.
