A fine concert and an interesting address by Dr. J. Nicol. were given at the monthly nceeting of the ...Wellington Burns Club on Monday evening. Dr. Nicol's talk dealt principally with the period of the eighteenth.century which saw the advent^of .Robert Bums and which ■displayed. the. great - intellectual and material advancement of' Scotland.
• Mr. D. McLaren-presided. Miss Dorothy Spinfcs-1 acted as4 accompanist; Miss Kathleen Sawyer" sang "Who Knows" and "My Love is Lijce" a' Red; -Red Rose." A trio was tastefully'rendered by Miss Jeanette:Briggs,.Miss K-'/Saw-yer,, and Mrs. Mathiesori, the.number being "Pure as the/Air." Mr.-Arthur Weller contributed "McGregor's Gathering" and a- Maori "number. A dainty supper was: supplied'. by the ladies' committee.? In "substitution for artists unable to be present' Miss Stirling sang'"Of a' the "Airts.the'Witfd Can Blow" ahd-."On. Sing Tae i#e -the Auld Scots. Songs."
