1937 ROYAL SHOW.

The Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association will open the Royal Show at Palmerston North tomorrow. It will continue on Friday and Saturday. Chariot races will be one of the features, and among the events to be held under this heading is a grand national championship,. which _ will carry a stake of £20 for the wmner. This and the other races on the programme are receiving the attention of a number of horsemen who are anxious to try their skill against that of Miss Gladys Hall, who won the event at the Winter Show and this time will-again be in the field. With total prizes of £60, the races promise strong competition and brilliant entertainment. An attraction rivalling that of the chariot races will be the appearance ot the internationally-famous Cossack riders. All available space in me trades halls has been taken up. That phrase* is particularly pertinent, incidentally, to the accommodation available for horses, classes for which are expected to provide record entries. Not only will every stall and lOose-box on the grounds be occupied, but a number of extra stalls provided in No. 6 hall will also be fully taxed. Even then the present facilities are insufficient, and arrangements are. being made to provide additional stalls in one of the end halls. Cattle and sheep classes have also drawn exceptionally strong i entries, contributing to the anticipated record number of entries for -the two shows held in the Manawatu during the present year. '■■ 7 A feature of the show will be the sideshows. Always popular with a public in holiday mood, they should serve t<_ attract many people to. the show, which, if favoured \ with fine weather, should be one of the most out- ! standing Royal Shows the Dominion has yet known. 7
