It was considered axiomatic by these employers that every man over the age of forty should be thrown on the scrap heap and was definitely the responsibility of the State. It had been said that the-Government was a Socialist Government. He wished it. were true. Those men had as much right, to take their part in production as any other section of the community. Mr. A. F. Moncur (Government, Rotorua) said that the Maoris in his district were making remarkable progress with dairy farming. There was no lack of purchasing power in the farming districts, he said, because the farmers had had a wonderful year. In addition to the guaranteed price for dairy produce, stock was bringing a good price.
