MOVE TO HELP

WELLINGTON ATHLETES

Although it is realised that the scheme will cost the club money, the Scottish Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club has decided to conduct two open handicap events on alternate Thursday evenings at Hataitai Park, commencing tomorrow, at 6.30, with a view to assisting in some small measure to bring athletics back to its former good position in Wellington., The events for tomorrow evening are 100 yards and three-quarters of a mile. Trophies are to be provided to the value of 10s for first, 5s for second, and 2s 6d for third. The entry fee is 6d. There must be 15 entries or-there will be no third prize, and if there are less than 10 entries there will be no second prize. If there arfe under six entries there will be no rfcee.

The events for each meeting have been selected to provide some competition for both the sprint and distance runners each fortnight, and if sufficient support is forthcoming an extension of the number of events will be considered. The arrangements provide for entries being made at the customary place prior to the day of the meeting.
