LOW STANDARD OF MORALITY

"Judging from cases I have heard here previously there is a pretty low standard of morality among the Maoris in the district north of Gisborne," commented his Honour Mr. Justice Ostler, in addressing the Grand Jury at the opening of the Supreme Court this morning, and referring to the fact that three, of the five cases for trial and two for sentence related to sexual offences among ; the Natives.- Something should be done about it, he added, and suggested that some form of instruction might be beneficial,
