THE FADED POPPY
(Original.) "Silence!" cried the lily, "Here's Fairiel/' ' - The flowers stood up. It was the spring meeting and they were all ready to go up to the outer world. "Have you all your dresses ready, for we start soon?" asked Fairiel anxiously. All the flowers looked at their dresses. Suddenly a poppy cried, "Mine has faded! Oh dear! Oh dear!" It was a pansy who broke the silence. ' "Why not leave it and be out of the ordinary?" • "What a good idea," cried all the flowers. Just then'the. bluebells called. "It's; lime to come up! Time to come up!" What a commotion there was; calling, shouting, laughing, and ringing. What a surprise we received when We saw a pink poppy among the red ones. And that poppy had a large family.
