PERIL PASSES
MELBOURNE FLOODS GIPPSLAND INUNDATION MELBOURNE, October 19. There has been no rain in the metropolitan area since 9 o'clock last night. Most of the rivers and creeks are receding, and the general flood peril appears to have passed. The River Yarra overflowed near Kew and reached the doorsteps of the houses. It partly covered three golf courses and seriously damaged market gardens. A hundred square mifcs of rich fields and farms has been inundated in southern Gippsland. , I
