"The Doll's House," Heretaunga, Miss Ethel Duncan's beautiful home, was filled with people yesterday evening when she gave a "five to seven" party for the Australian lady golfers and others who are taking part in the Wellington ladies' provincial golf championship at Heretaunga. She was assisted by Mrs. John Duncan and Mrs. Lan Mcßae. The guests included Mrs. Sloan Morpeth, Miss Shirley Tolhurst, Miss B. Kernot, Mrs. E. M. Hutton and Miss Wray (Australia), Mrs. M. BRIDES-ELECT ENTERTAINED

Miss Patricia Matthews, who is to be married next Saturday to Mr. F. G. Moloney, has been entertained at many parties recently. A "gift afternoon" was given by Mrs; Rana Wagg, Penrose Street, Lower Hutt, on Saturday afternoon, when the guests brought "something blue or something green" for Miss Matthews. She was wearing a grey coat and skirt with a navy blue hat and blouse, and her hostess was dressed in a smart frock of black Angora cloth. RESERVES SOCIAL CLUB

The recently-formed "Reserves Social Club" of the Wellington City Council, held a highly succesful social evening recently, when Mr. G. Clarke presided over a large gathering of members, their wives, and friends at the Basin Reserve Pavilion. The chairman expressed the hope that the function would be the forerunner of many others. The guests of honour were Mr. and Mrs. Phil Wilton. Mr. Wilton has retired after 26 years' service in the reserves department of the City Council, 23 years of which were spent on the Municipal Golf Links. The club patron, Mr. J. G. MacKenzie (Director of Parks and Reserves), said Mr. Wilton had been a most conscientious and faithful servant, and it gave him much pleasure, on behalf of the club, to present him with a wallet with cheque, and Mrs. Wilton with a bouquet.
