MISHAP AT COAL MINE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
WESTPORT, September 17,
A mishap occurred at the Brighton coal mine this afternoon when a casting broke, causing the cable supporting one side of the fluming crossing from the mainland to an island to fall and throwing part of the fluming into the sea. A start is to be made on repair work immediately, and it is hoped that by the time the 300 tons of coal on the island are shipped the fluming will be restored to its former position.
