STATE HOUSES

DEMAND AT AUCKLAND

(By Telegraph — Press Association.)

AUCKLAND, This Day.

It is announced that the closing date for the receipt of applications for tenancies of 212 State rental houses in the course of erection at Orakei has been extended until further notice. Applications closed last month and it is explained that the reason for the extension is delay caused by weather and the recent carpenters' strike. The Minister also wishes to give everyone the fullest opportunity of applying.

Mr. G. S. Ellis, the" branch manager of the State Advances Corporation, said today that there were over 1500 people seeking houses either at Orakei or on the Cadman and Casey estates.
