AFTER CONVENTION

MR. DILLON ENTERTAINS

After a convention of the New Zealand staff of Messrs. Warner BrothersFirst National Pictures, Ltd., Mr. G. M. Dillon, general manager for New Zealand, entertained a number of guests at. a social gathering at the Hotel St. George yesterday. The convention marked the conclusion of one year's operations and the opening of another year. The work of the.past twelve months was reviewed and plans for the new period announced. Mr. Dillon said that the producing branch of the organisation was endeavouring to set as en viable a standard in motion pictures as New Zealand set in butter production. Upon another speaker recalling that Warner Brothers introduced sound pictures, Mr. Dillon said that the man chiefly responsible, Mr; Sam Warner, had died before see' ing the full fruits of his labour, a regrettable loss. • i Among the other speakers was Sir Benjamin Fuller, who told of the happy memories he had of his meetings with the heads of the firm while visit irig Hollywood.
