OMISSION OF EDWARDS

A correspondent ("Fair Trial") writes from Palmerston North as fol-lows:^-''RecentIy in the Rugby representative teams for Wellington the name of L. H. Edwards has; figured among the reserves. He played in the North Island team, and the year before last in the All Black trials. He had, prior to coming to Wellington, been a Taranaki representative since 1932. Surely this performance, together with the fact that he was one of the best players the Hawera Technical College ever had, should merit him another trial this year and at least convince his supporters one way or another."

Considerable discussion took place at this week's meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union's committee regarding the admission of tramwaymen to the third <Test between the Springboks and the All Blacks at Eden Park on September 25. Mr. G. Nicholson moved that no tramwaymen be admitted free to the match before 2.15 p.m. Mr. G. Orrell moved as an amendment that only motormen in possession of tram control handles, conductors with collection bag and box, and inspectors be admitted free, while Mr. A. Murdoch moved a further amendment that a conference be held with the tramway authorities. Both amendments were lost and Mr. Nicholson's suggestion agreed to.
