Mrs. Kempthorne, Lichfleld, England, who is at present making a short lour of New Zealand with her husband, the recently-retired Bishop of Lichfleld, has been closely connected with social work, and taken an active leadership in the women's organisations in the diocese of Lichfield during her husband's episcopate. She has the distinction of having served on the Magisterial bench for sixteen years at Lichfield, and for a time was the Only woman .occupying that position: she is a cousin of. the late Lord Kitchener.. On her return to England, she will. make her home in Cambridge.

Mrs. Maurice Myers and her small son arrived in Wellington today to visit Lady Myers, Kelburn.

Mrs. Taverner, who is visiting her sister. Miss Simpson, in Wellington, will leave for her home in Dunedin on Monday. ■

Dr. Adah Platts-Mills, Wellington, is thfe guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Collinson, New Plymouth. She has been transferred to this centre for two months, by the Government Health Department.

Mrs. G. Sampson, who has been touring in the North Island with her family, has returned to Christchurch.

Mrs. Bosher, Timaru, is visiting Wellington.

Miss Audrey Rutherford and Miss Babs Cleavin, Auckland, who- have been spending a few days in Wellington, have returned, home.

Mrs. W. J. Bright and Miss Mary Bright, Hawera, spent several dtfys in Wellington recently.

Mrs.'Morley, Kelburn, has returned from a visit to, the West Coast and the Franz Joseph Glacier.

Miss Patricia Simpson, Christchurch, who has been visiting Wellington, has returned home.

Mrs. J. M. Swain, Napier, is spending a few weeks at Lower Hutt prior to leaving for an extended visit in the South Island.

Miss Lyra Taylor, from Montreal, has been spending some time in England this summer, visiting her two sisters, Miss CM. Taylor, in the West of England, and Dr. Portia Thomas and her family, in York-. Dr. and Mrs. S. A. Gibbs (Nelson) have been enjoying London. They have left for a trip to Austria, writes "The Post's" London representative. The itinerary includes Vienna, Budapeste, and Prague. After spending about two months in Northern Queensland, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Odlin, Lower Hutt, returned today by the Awatea.

Mr. and :Mrs. "Chick" Arnold, Sydney,^who. are visiting 'New Zealand, entertained. Sir Benjamin Fuller at luncheon at the Midland Hotel yesterday. Mrs. Arnold was formerly Miss Jean McEvoy, and is a daughter of one of the oldest families in Sydney, her family having been members of the legal profession for more than thirty years. Mr. Arnold has produced a number, of well-known Australian pictures, and was instrumental in "discovering" Mary Maguire and Errol Flynn.
