DONCASTER CUP, a plate of £1200 . (including a cup valued at £200); second £200, third £100; special weights; 2J miles.

Gordon Smith's br c Fearless Fox, by Foxlaw—Molly Adare, 4yrs ..- 2 Anthony de Rothschild's br c Suzerain, by Son-in-Law, 4yrs . 3 Six started. ■Won>..by a head, with a length between second and third. Winner bred by C. E. Howard, and trained by E. Rickards, Binfield Grove, Berks.

■Last season Haulfryn had eight starts, winning the Shelford Plate, 1J miles, at Newmarket in May when ridden by the champion jockey,; G. Kichards. He also ran second to Sind in the St. George Stakes, 1 mile and 5 furlongs, at Curragh.

Fearless Fox had four starts last season for three seconds, the minor placings including seconds to Flares in the Newmarket Stakes; to Hondo in the Gold Vase at Ascot; and to Boswell in the St. Leger Stakes at Doncaster.

Suzerain had the best form to- commend him, the Son-in-Law colt winning four times, running second once, and fourth on three occasions.in 11 starts last term. His successes included victories in the Beeswing Plate, 1 mile 3 furlongs, at Newcastle; in the King's Handicap, 1$ miles, at Windsor; in the Newmarket St. Leger, 1J miles, beating Flares, winner of the Newmarket Stakes; and the Autumn Stakes, 1J miles, at Chepstow.,
