A STATEMENT DENIED

This week, the "Standard," official organ of the New Zealand Labour Party, published a statement from Auckland that it was rumoured in National Party quarters that Mr. H. H. Sterling, a former1 General Manager of Railways, had been asked to accept office as organiser for the party. The statement was denied in Auckland yesterday by Mr. B. G. Edwards, Auckland organiser for the National Psrtv Today Mr. Sterling informed "The Post" that the report that he might be appointed head organiser of the National Party and that he had had a conference on this matter with representatives, of the party in Auckland this week had no foundation in fact. He said that he was fully occupied at present with matters of his own concern and was not contemplating extending his activities in the direction indicated, and he desired to emphasise that he had had no such conference in Auckland as had been stated.
