BOXING CONFERENCE

GREYMOUTH, September 9,

The annual conference of the New Zealand Boxing Association was held this morning, Mr. A. Beban presiding.

1 By 64 votes to 62 the next championships were allotted to Gisborne.

Mr. Sceats, the Oamaru delegate, proposed'a motion that the conference urge the.Minister of Health and Education to have an investigation ' made into the desirability of placing sports in schools on the basis of being taugnt by teachers and on the same status as other subjects. The motion was carried unanimously.

A remit that associations conduct professional contests on a percentage •basis only .was lost. It was decided that the council investigate the procuring of an adequate insurance cover for all amateurs.
