EVERGREEN FAIR

OPENING TOMORROW

The Evergreen Fair will be opened in the Town Hall at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow by the Rt. Rev. K. St. Barbc Holland, M.A., Bishop of Wellington. The opening ceremony will be followed at 3 p.m. by half an hour's bright entertainment by the pupils of Mr. Claude Sanders. Highlights of tomorrow evening's programme will be two halfcan-hour non-stop periods by the pupils of Miss Helen Gard'ncr and of Mr. Joseph Knowsley.

The numerous stalls are filled with good things to buy and the hall has been prettily and tastefully decorated with bright greens predominating. It is confidently expected that the Evergreen Fair will in all ways equal, and in many v/ays surpass, fairs held in previous years by the Wellington City Mission. Bright non-stop programmes, completely changing every day, will be featured each evening, and songs and dances will oe interspersed with lively band music. Some of the best of Wellington's local talent has kindly consented to give numbers and those attending are assured of varied entertainment of a particularly high standard. The afternoons will be fully occupied, bridge, the baby show, cooking competition, and a children's fancy dress party being a few of the attractions. Admission in the afternoons wilj be free, and in the evening the charge will be Is for adults, 6d for children; the price of season tickets is 2s 6d.

The fair is being held to augment the funds of the Wellington City Mission, and it is the earnest hope of the committee that the support given will be spontaneous and sustained during the week, September 11 to September 18.
