END OF GREY HAIR?

NEW USE FOR VITAMIN

Dr. Agnes Fay Morgan, head of the University of California's Household Science Department, is experimenting on more than a hundred rats to determin- the effect of a vitamin B filtrate on. greying hair, says the "New York Times." The filtrate is obtained from whole wheat and other whole grains, and contains something that prevents hair from turning grey. Two rats responded to the filtrate. But two rats no more, prove that hair can be restored to its natural colour than the appearance of one swallow proves that summer is here. No tests on human beings have been made in California. But Dr. Morgan reports that some men and women have experimented, on themselves (one a professor in Ohio State University successfully.

The filtrate was first discovered by Dr. T. H. Jukes, ■ instructor, and S. Lepkovsky, research associate in the Division of I * ultry Husbandry, University of California College of Agricul ture. They found it essential to the life and growth of chickens and passed it on to the Department of Household Science. There it was discovered that rats which did not eat the vitamin with their food turned grey, but recovered their normal hair colour when they did.
