An anticyclone has been .memng eastwards across the l Dominion with Its centre to the north, but barometers are now falling In the south owing to the approach of the first of a series of westerly depressions across the south Tnsman Sea. Conseauently, winds had become mainly westerly or north-westerly by this morning and were freshening about and south of Cook Strait. The weather for the most part has been fair,to fine but skies have clouded over in western areas and a few scattered showers have been reported on. the west coast of the South Island.
