PRIZE TO KILBIRNIE

At last Wellington has broken its notorious record of bad luck in the matter of art union prices, and a Kilbirnic winner has carried oft the ■first prize of £2000 in* an art union. First prize in the "Money From Home" art union, drawn in the Masonic Hall last night, went to ticket No. 05580, the holder giving the horn de plume of "Fanny's Luck," Kilbirnie Book Exchange, Wellington. Fifth prize also went to a Wellington ticket-holder, | "Santoft," J. Ricketts, Ross and Glen- ■ dining, Wellington, taking a prize of £75. Second prize of £500 went to a 1 Christchurch winner, third, of £200, to Oamaru, and fourth, of £100, to Wai-1 kowhai. , , , ! The announcement of the Wellington win was greeted with applause by the small knot of spectators who attended the draw. . ' , „ • Mr. J. W. Hutchen represented the Department of Internal Affairs at the draw, and Acting, Sergeant Carron appeared on behalf of the police.
