RETURNED SOLDIERS
BALL AT NGAIO
The members of the. Returned Soldiers' Association at Ngaio held a very successful ball, recently in the Town Hall. The hall was beautifully deco- ' rated by members of the committee, red, white, and blue streamers radiating from a large squart centre of the same colours, while baskets of scarlet poppies were hung round the walls. ■The stage/where au excellent orchestra supplied the music, was tastefully decorated, spring flowers being massed across the footlights in the centre of which was a large replica of the returned soldiers' badge. Trellis frames on each side, entwined with poppies, backed by pussy willow and other greenery, created a beautiful effect. - . : A delicious home-made supper H was provided, the ladies' committee responsible for the arrangements being Mesdames A. L. Franks (wearing black eire lace over flesh satin), R., Bringans (maroon angelskin lace), T. Easther (brown,georgette with puritan collar), S. Guy (navy and silver), L. L. Hills (black.lace), J. H. Jerram (black with silver thread), F. Johnson (violet lace). R. Irving (black mariette), T. C. Lomas (black mariette and lace), E. McCrae (floral ninon), and J. Wood (black and gold brocade).
