—. ♦ MR. E. V. PAUL CAREER AS ACCOUNTANT The Public Servica Commissioners today announced the appointment of Mr. E. V. Paul, accountant, to the position of Government Printer, in place of Mr. G. H. Loney.'who retired recently. Mr. Paul, who was educated at Newbury School and the Palmerston North High School, joined- "the Public Service in 1907 as a member of the staff of the State Advances Office. After twelve years' service with that Departmen. he was appointed an assistant accountant in the. Public Trust Office, Wellington, in .I^l9. After experience

in the head office and several br&nches of that Department he was appointed district accountant: at Invercargill, in I 1920. During his period of service at Invercargill he also acted as deputy of the District Public Trustee. In 1927 he was appointed accountant of the Government Printing and Stationery Department, a position he now relinquishes to take lip that of Government Printer He has acted as Government Printer on .several occasions during the absence of Mr. Loney. Mr. Paul has passed the accountants' professional examination and is a member of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. He is also a member of the New Zealand Institute of Public Administration. Mr. Paul was born at Levels, Timaru, in 1890. He was formerly an active member of the Wellington Football Club, and at present is an honorary member of the club.
