OFFICER'S DENIAL
MORE TROOPS EXPECTED (Received September 6, 1 p.m.) LONDON; September 5. A veteran of the Great War, a Scofr tish Communist, Lieutenant-Colonel G. S. Aitken, who -is on furlough from the command of the Fifteenth International Brigade in Spain, denies that the British Bactalion. is returning home, and adds that if the French frontier remains open a .-second* battalion will be dispatched. The suggestion of evacuation, h.- says, is fantastic. Five hundred Britons at present ar. in the fighting line, and Americans, totalling 2000,, are expected to be trebled shortly. Tha food, pay, and morale are excellent.
