INCREASE OF £1200
WELLINGTON PROGRAMME
Stakes totalling £0700 for the three days, an increase of £1200 on last Year, are being offered for the Wellington Racing Club's Spring Meeting on October 21, 23, and 25 next. The 'only events not participating in the increase are the three hurdles, the Trentham and Harcourt Stakes, and the final day's two-year-old handicap, for which the stakes are the same as twelve months ago. The schedule1 of events is the same as last year, the exception being that two of the hurdles are now to be run over If miles, instead of one, as previously. The stake for the Wellington Handicap, 11 furlongs, has been increased from £600 to £750, for the Watkins Handicap, li milss, from £500 to £600, and for the Pearce Handicap from £500 to £600. Each of the three open sprints has been lifted £50, and the same increase is made to most of the hack races. No stake will now be of a less value than £300. . Entries will not close till October 1.
