The Townswomen's Guild, Lower Hutt, held in the R.S.A. rooms on Thursday a very Well attended meeting which was presided over, by Mrs. Mofan, the president, with Mrs. Bryson (secretary) and Mrs. Benstead (treasurer) assisting. The guild shows an increasing membership, and the craft circles, held on alternate weeks, are extremely popular, their activities ranging over glove-making and brassworking to date, with an interesting programme of other activities arranged for future meetings. ,
Vases of hyacinths, narcissi, and heath, and stands of wattle and delicate prunus with its coppery foliage made a glowing interior.
Elocutionary items were given by Mrs. Dowse, pianoforte duets by Mesr dames Liebezeit and Taylor, and Mrs. Young demonstrated the art of making butterfly-wing pictures.
After an interval for tea, Mrs. Preddle, a>visitor from Norfolk Island, gave an entertaining and comprehensive talk on life in that island, for which she was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks.
