COMMITTEE MEETING

WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION

N The newly-elected management committee of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association held its first meeting last evening, Mr. J. L. Mac Duff presiding. Messrs. E. G. Nevitt and J. Nixon^representing the Wellington Catholic Lawn Tennis Sub-Association) were welcomed as new members. Mr. MacDuff was re-elected chairman, and Mr. A. M. Pinkerton deputy chairman.

The following sub-committees were set up:— Grounds: Messrs. A. C. W. MantellHarding and C. K. Donnell, hon. secre-^ tary and hon. treasurer respectively. Inter-club: Messrs. A. M. Pinkerton, I. Fraser, and E. G. Nevitt. Publicity: Messrs. A. Richards and H. L. Wise, i Finance: Messrs. J. L. Mac Duff, A. C. W. Mantell-Harding, and C. K. Donnell. Postponement: Mr. A. C. W. MantellHarding. Representative on junior advisory: Mr. R. Ferkins. Ranking: Messrs. A. Richards (convener), L. H. Pollock, and J. Nixon. Match and selection: The whole committee for Wilding Shield and Nunneley Casket teams; the ranking com-, mittee, and Mr. A. M. Pinkerton, for representative teams. Tournament: Messrs. L. H. Pollock (convener), A. M. Pinkerton, H. L. Wise, R. P. Cooper, and E. G. Nevitt.' Delegates to N.Z.L.T.A.: Messrs. J. L. Mac Duff, A. C. W. Mantell-Harding, A. M. Pinkerton, H. L. Wise, L. H. Pollock, C. JK. Donnell, R. P. Copper, J. Nixon, and A. G. Smith. Mr. Nixon is a delegate to the W.L.T.A. of the Wellington Catholic sub-association, and Mr. Smith represents the Hutt Valley sub-association. Junior advisory: Messrs. R. McL. Ferkins, F. H. Paul, Buckmaster, L. Marchant, W. Dempsey, W. W. Stirling. The committee decided to apply for December 28 to January 1, 1938, for the Wellington championships. An Easter tournament is also to be arranged. January 7 and 8, 1938, are the dates suggested for challenging Canterbury for the Wilding Shield and Nunneley Casket. A recommendation was made to the committee that the two teams be given doubles practice.
