LONDON, September 1. The Admiralty announces that the British destroyer Havock was attacked by night by an unknown submarine off Cape San Antonio, but was not hit. ■
The flotilla leader Hardy and. the destroyer Hyperion were dispatched from Gibraltar with orders to proceed to the area where the Havock was attacked. The Admiralty states that the Havock counter-attacked the submarine with depth charges in accordance with the instructions already issued to the Fleet. The result is unknown.
It is understood that the attack was made by torpedo.
