Special forecast for Wellington:—
Light to moderate southerly winds, veering: soon to northerlies.
Weather mainly fair io cloudy, but an occasional- light, shower possible. Mild temperatures.
The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for south-westerly winds in the North Island, but these "will veer to the west and later to the north. In the South Island winds will be variable at first, but northerlies will soon prevail. Winds will be light to moderate in force, but will gradually freshen. The weather will be changeable, with scattered showers in most districts, but in eastern areas there will be a temporary improvement. Temperatures will be mild. ,
At present there are only slight variations in pressure over the Dominion. A weak anticyclone is crossing the northernmost portion of the Tasman Sea and a shallow depression Covers the southern portion, while a deep depression lies over the southeastern part of Australia. Cloudy to overcast weather has been experienced in most districts, with mist or fog in many places, and some scattered light rain has fallen in eastern areas. Southerly winds have predominated about and to the north of Cook Strait, and these have been mainly light to moderate in force, while in the South Island winds have been .rattier variable in direction.
Auckland's weather yesterday was fine, a light south-easterly wind changing to the south-West during the "afternoon. ; This morning it. was overcast with a southerly brqeze.
In Wellington it was overcast most of the day, only 0.7 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. A trace of rain teU abdut 3 p.m., and there was some light misty rain early this morning when a thick fog covered the town. At Kelburn the rainfall totalled two points. , The wind has been a light southerly. The weather in Christchurch has*continued dull, with drizzling, rain at times. A north-easterly breeze was blowing yesterday, but this morning it was calm. In Dunedin it was dull and misty during the morning, but the afternoon was fine1 and sunny, the wind being a moderate north-easterly breeze. It was fair there this morning with a gentle breeze from the south-south-west
