EASTERN HUTT CLUB x
The annual, meeting of the Eastern Hutt Tennis Club was held recently, Mr. H. G. Flux presiding.
The annual report stated that there were now 75 members. v Three teams were entered in the Hutt Valley Lawn Tennis Sub-Association's competitions. The interest taken in the club's ladder matches was very keen.! The financial position of the club was sound. The winners of the club, competitions were as follows: —Singles championship: Ladies,' Mrs. A! Corliss; men.E. J. Hughes. Handicap singles: Ladies, Mrs. A. Arms; men, W. •M. Maxwell. Junior singles champion: Ladies, Miss M. Jenkins; men, R. D. Foster. Ladies' doubles: Miss V. Sinclair and Mrs. V, Keillor. Men's doubles: Messrs. W. Maxwell and A. Maunder. Combined doubles: Mrs. A. Corliss and Mr. C. Wesley. It was stated at the meeting that prospects for the coming season are even brighter than before. All vacancies caused through resignations had already been filled by new members. > The official opening day of the club will be held on September 18, and in the evening a dance will be held in the R.S.A. hall, Lower Hutt. Before this date the courts will be top-dressed and necessary repairs done to damaged asphalt caused through poplar roots. Officers were elected as follows:— President, Mr. W. V. Dyer; vice-presi-dent, Mr. H. Harman; life member, Mrs. M. G. Scott; management committee, Misses T. Baigent and H. Wright, Mrs. Keillor, Messrs. H. G. Flux and G. E. Arms; selection committee, Mrs. Keillor, Messrs. J. B. Darnell and E. J. Hughes; trustees, Messrs. P. Hester, H. G. Flux, and G. E. Arms: delegates to H.V.L.T.S.A., Messrs.' H. G. Flux and G. E. Arms; club captain, Mr. B. Hamer; vice-club captain, Mr. G. Keillor; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. J. Hughes; hon. auditor, Mr. J. Smyth; hon. secretary, Mr. A. G. Smith. . ... ■ . '
