CHANGE OPPOSED
ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES
(Special to the "Evening- Post.") MASTERTON, This Day. Strong opposition to the proposed alterations to the boundaries of the Wairarapa c lectorate was expressed at a meeting of the Carterton Tradesmen's Association last night. A resolution of protest was carried, arid it is to be Cor warded to the Representation Commission, and the co-operation of the member for the district, Mr. B. Roberts, is, also to be sought. Mr. J. A. B. Lawrence presided. The resolution was as follows:—"That this meeting of the Carterton Tradesmen's Association, representing . all classes of business, regards with very |rave concern the proposed alterations oi the Wairarapa electorate, and respejtfully desires to; enter an emphatic protest against the transfer of the Belvedere Riding of the Wairarapa South County to the Masterton electorate, thereby tending to destroy the community of interest which has existed between the trades people of Carterton, and those electors residing in the area, as we-feel that the transfer will have a very far-reaching effect and will do irreparable damage to the future welfare of Carterton, the natural centre of the. district; v(?e respectfully urge that the Waingawa River be retained as a northern boundary of the electorate."
