OBITUARY

MRS. CHARLOTTE ROXBURGH,

Otaki's' oldest identity in the person of Mrs. Charlotte Roxburgh, who has several relatives in Wellington, passed away at her home, Rangatira Street, Otaki, on Thursday night, in her 99th year. Mrs. Roxburgh was born in Glasgow, and came to New Zealand in the Dura when 23 years of age. Her

parents died when she was fourteen, and she came to the Dominion with her brother-in-law. , After residing in Duhedin •'Mrs. Roxburgh moved on to Taieri, walking all the way. She married shortly after her arrival in New Zealand, and later cams to. the North Island, accompanied by her husband and son. For some forty years Mrs. Roxburgh resided in: Otaki, making many friends by. her cheery manner and her generous nature. For some years she lived with her daughter, and on the occasion of her birthday entertained a number of friends, and despite her age showed how dancing was done in her. younger days. For the past few months the deceased had been confined to her bed, but was cheerful to the last and always ready to have a joke with anyone who'called.

Three sons, Allan, William, and.Dan, predeceased her, and the surviving members' of the family are Mrs. Jardine (Palmerston North), Mrs. Fred Bills'(Otaki), Mrs.'W.'Noble (Nelson). There are many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
