FAIR TO FINE Special forecast for "Wellington:— Light and variable winds, but northerlics gradually setting: in and freshening- somewhat tomorrow. Weather fair to fine and mild. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing 24 hours, is for moderate ■■south-westerly 'to westerly winds, which will veer to the west and later to the north-west in the South Island. The weather for the most part will- be fair to fine and mild, but rain will develop shortly in the western and far southern districts of the South Island. Pressure' has risen everywhere owing to the advance on to the Dominion of an anticyclone. The southwesterly winds which have predominated have consequently decreased in force everywhere, and the wind direction this morning was inclined to be more variable in the South Island. Scattered showers fell yesterday in western districts, but in eastern areas, thn weather was fine. By this morning the weather was fair to fine almost generally. ' Auckland's weather yesterday was rather changeable, and during the afternoon there were occasional light showers which totalled two points of rain. The wind was a moderate to fresh south-westerly. The weather this morning was fine. Wellington had an almost perfect day with 9.1 hours of bright sunshine. A light northerly wind prevailed, but the I wind turned to the south during the night, although continuing equally light in force. Christchurch had a fine and sunny day. The morning was almost calm, and a light south-westerly blew in the afternoon. After a frost of nine degrees last night, the weather this morning was still fine. | Dunedin hac 1 cold and unsettled 1 weather, with occasional light showers and with a strong and squally southwesterly wind.
