MANUFACTURERS' STATEMENT
"I want publicly to congratulate the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) on his crushing reply to the manufacturers' statements that were issurd in such bad taste yesterday morning," said the Acting Prime Minister (the Hon. P. Fraser) when speaking at the Labour Party welcome to the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) yesterday afternoon. "I cannot think that it was simply a coincidence that on the morning of the Prime Minister's return we should have statements that are unsupported by facts published under double headings, obviously carefully arranged beforehand, and appearing in -some instances on newspaper placards," said Mr. Fraser. "The reply of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, issued with commendable speed and efficiency was an adequate, complete, and crushing reply to the statements made."
