PALMERSTON N. DEVIATION
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
PALMERSTON N., This' Day.
Considerable satisfaction was expressed in Palmerston North when a message from Wairoa at-the beginning of the month quoted the Minister of Railways as stating that ;£ 100,000 was on the Budget for the- railway deviation at Palmerston North. It seems, however, from inquiries made in official circles by Mr. J. Hodgens, M.P., that something has gone wrong, and that the Minister's remarks have either not been explicit enough or the Wairoa message in its brief form conveyed a wrong impression. Mr. Hodgens finds that-there'is ■no money set aside for recommencing the work abandoned at Milson, and that probably the Minister was referring to the deviations at present under way at Kakariki and Turakina. .
