DRIVERS FINED
HUTT ROAD COLLISION
According to. evidence given in ■ a case in the Magistrate's Court yesterday a lorry driver on the Hutt Road was so intent on watching two other vehicles that he expected to collide, that he did not'see another car about to crash into his own vehicle. The lorry was hit just within its own side of the centre line and lost a wheel, and was substantially damaged. The other car also lost a front wheel, and the other front wheel (produced in court) was badly buckled. s Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., said that it was apparent both .drivers had pulled out and that four lanes of traffic were being worked on the: Hutt Road at the time. lie convicted both the drivers of the "vehicles that collided, James Blewman and Charles Crane, of negligent driving and fined,them each £2 and costs. Mr. A. R. Cooper prosecuted.. Blewman, for whom Mr. A. J. Mazengarb appeared, said that he was a member of- the Hutt Borough" Council, and for three years had tested drivers for licences. '
