• ' \~ss w Mi-s. Strong4 Entertained. ' i.'.r. Iceland poppies, jonquils,'and a-bowp. of winter roses decorated the. National Club rooms recently, when a morning lea was given for Mrs. T. B. Strong, who will leave shortly for Christchurch, -by the -central, group of the Women's Social Progress -Movement. Mrs. Strong, who is a member of the committee and also of the central branch, was welcomed by the, president of the central group, Mrs. J. Bennie. Mrs. Bennie spoke of the good work done by the guest of honour for the organisation, and' presented her with a shoulder spray of dainty flowers. During morning, tea, opportunity was taken by all present to | wish Mrs. Strong a happy sojourn in her new home: Miss M. McLean, prescient of the movement, and the members of the central group committee, were present, and Miss McLean added her words of praise to those of Mrs. Bennie. Mrs. Strong was also guest of honour at a tea party in the James Smith tearooms yesterday afternoon, when a group of her friends assembled to bid her farewell and good luck. Mrs. "F. W. Ongley was hostess. Among those present were Mrs. T. Callagher, Mrs. T. Henderson, and Mrs. A. P." Nesbitt. • Married in Scotland. A Scottish paper reports -the mar-: riage of Dr. Mary Coutts, formerly en the staff of the Wellington Public Hospital, and Dr. Patrick Anderson, Aberdeen. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Coutts both studied at Aberdeen University, the former taking agriculture. Later he became interested in medicine and qualified as a doctor and he is now .engaged in medical "work in Sheffield. Auckland Visitor Entertains. The lounge of the Pioneer Club was decorated with bowls of spring flowers and pastel-shaded hydrangeas yesterday afternoon, when Mrs. Hugh Me-, Gill, Auckland, who is spending some months in Wellington, entertained a number of friends at a party. The hostess wore a tabac brown ensemble and a -brown velvet toque. Among those present were Mesdames W. Duncan, Rule. K. Atkinson. Garland, Wardell, W. Hunter, and* Mis Atkinson. , '
