P. AND T. GUILD

RACE WEEK DANCE

Gaily-coloured streamers and flags in patriotic tonings, looped between cool masses of tree ferns, gave a Coronation note to the Pharmacy Hall last evening for the race week dance held by the P. and T. Officers' Guild. These functions are notable for the happy and sociable atmosphere which always prevails, and that last evening proved no exception to the rule, when •=veryone present, held by the strains of old-time melodies and the rhythm of the modern tunes supplied by the orchestra, joined whole-heartedly \n the spirit of ihe occasion. A great deal of amusement was caused by the" introduction of a novelty item in the form of a .niniature race meeting, which' provided a pleasant interlude between the dances. t. sit-down supper was served m the upstairs supper-room, which had been attractively decorated under the supervision of Mrs. L. Power, in an elaborate maze of blue and gold streamers to tone with the bowls of golden Iceland poppies and maidenhair fern which were on the supper table. It was with obvious regret that the guests finally joined with the orchestra in the strains of "Auld Lang Syne and "God Save the- King," as a conclusion to one. of the most successful dances yet held by the guild. Those present included Mr. J. Young (Acting Deputy-Director-Gen-eral) and Mrs. Young, Mr. and Mrs. D Herbert, Mr. and Mrs. J. Madden Mr. and Mrs. W. Newall, Mr. E. W.
