MICHAEL BEARY'S TRIBUTE
Mr. Michael Beary did not win the Derby—as you so fondly imagined. He confessed as much to millions of radio listeners when broadcasting on the 8.8.C. National programme the night after the race, says the "Daily Mail." ; Startled hearers, with ears all pricked up and eyebrows slightly lifted, began to wonder what was this new racing sensation. It was merely a great jockey's way of paying tribute to his mount. "Mid-day Sun won the Derby," modestly explained Beary. Millions of listeners breathed a huge sigh of relief and smiled.
Since the last meeting at Trentham. very few alterations have been needed to the course and its appointments, which now cater for the most exacting demands of the public. Four extra windows have been added to the totalisator, and, improvements have been effected in facilities for light luncheons. Racegoers travelling by train to the course will also have the advantage of the excellent facilities at the new station.
