QUEEN VICTORIA STATUE
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —It has been a subject of very unfavourable local comment that the centenary of Queen Victoria's accession to the British Throne has passed without the least attempt to. brighten up her statue in Kent Terrace.1 Admittedly, it is not a good statue, but as a mark of respect to a remarkable woman,.and in commemoration of the great epoch to which she gave her "name, I think the City Council authorities should have celebrated the occasion at least with a clean-up of the statue, and perhaps a coat of paint.1 May I inquire; what is the use of this statue on a public thoroughfare if it is to be the subject of such complete indifference at the only-time when it really merited recognition?—l am, etc., LEWIS DALY.
