PROGRESS OF COMPETITIONS
The Wellington Chess League competitions have now passed the second round In all grades. Unfortunately, owing to the lack of available A grade members, Kgalo, last year's winners, have had to withdraw from the first (trade tourney. W.M.C. so far la doing very well In every grade, not havlUß lost a match. Brooklyn have not the assistance this year of It. KitrhinKinau, who played Board 1 la.it '.I. Wlgham, of the Hull Club! was responsible for a very line performance In defeating F. K. Helling In the match against W.M.C. Shell hare made an excellent beginning In the second grade.
