33-CLUB
The' 33 Club, which comprises; members of the Wellington motion-picture staffs and allied interests, has arranged a monthly golf competition, and the first of these was held on the Hutt links, on Monday afternoon. The weather proved most kind for the inaugural contest as, after a shower at midday, the links were flooded with sunshine during the afternoon. The following are the results of the first round of the knock-out competition:— . '' ' ■ ■ F. Ansell beat M. Toomey; R. Felton beat W. Hannah; R. Stewart beat P. McGowan; A. McClure beat'V. Schumacher; C. Cox beat W. Mellor; S. Bridgeford beat E. E. Ranish; J. Trayes beat T. Ashton; J. Dunn beat B. Allen. A bogey competition was won by W. Maxwell, with 1 up. He won a trophy donated by Mr. P. W. Maddock, and the runner-up, F. J. Ansell, who finished all square, received a trophy donated by Mr. C. James. In presenting the prizes, Mr. B. Allen' congratulated the winners and expressed pleasure at the good attendance at the first of the monthly contests. Mr. Toomey intimated that, he would donate a trophy for the players beaten in the first round of the knock-out competition, and Mr. E. E. Ranish intimated that he would give a trophy for the , players beaten in the second round.
